Conceptualizing recovery as a three step process.
Step one. Stabilize.
We address self-harm, suicide urges, eating disorder, compulsions, dissociation, and behavioral outbursts using standard DBT or Radically Open DBT, powerful, evidence-based therapies which target unhelpful behaviors for change while building positive habits to increase your satisfaction with life.
Step two. Heal.
The only way out is through. We process traumatic memory using a variety of modalities, including EMDR and Prolonged Exposure.
Step three. Make meaning.
Take your healing and make your way. Use your learning to cope with stress, to foster connection with others, and to live by your values.
Additional notes:
Recovery is nonlinear. Individuals may move back and forth among the steps due to a variety of factors. Hard work takes place along the entirety of the path, and wellness is an ongoing endeavor, not a destination. For step one, we will typically utilize DBT and RO-DBT. For step two, RO-DBT and EMDR can be effective. For step three, we will stay grounded in skills while exploring meaning and goals moving forward. Every plan of care is tailored to the client as an individual—this means that this section is only a rough guide to what your therapy will look like.
